Hi Guys, Was just wondering if anybody new anything on the plan to aquire special operations helicopters ( a company of them I heard )to work with our SAS & other special operaters such as 1st Comdo Regt and 4RAR(Comdo)? I think that the Blackhawk/SAS tradgedy in Australia some years back now prooves that special operators require specialised support.Does anybody have type/number suggestions ? I think about 8 of some kind of modified Merlin could be good ( I heard the special mission version of our blackhawks lack range and cabin space).
Personally I would have loved to see the Apache in Aussie colours , I think it is just unbeatable in the armed helo role.Also does anybody know if there are any plans to update our Kiowas to provide support for our Tigers( love to see our kiwas with mast mounted radar!)How does the Tiger & Apache compare ?
Also wondering why the Israeli Airforce dont have any airborne early warning assets or if they do what are they ?
What does everybody think of the Wedgetail? How doesit compare to the Sentry?
