Spent a very nice afternoon at Stoke Golding, with a variety of interesting Austers arriving and departing.
As shown by the flat windscreen, G-AGLK was built as a Mk V in 1944 with the American Lycoming engine which gives a snub nosed look, and later modified in later life with smaller rear screens and a Gipsy Major engine

Still plenty of decent Auster club fly-ins, there’s another at Leicester at the beginning of June which i’m looking forward to

To prove that old habits die hard, here’s an image of one of the same Austers attending an IAPC (as it was then called) fly-in more than thirty years ago. I photographed G-ATBU at the Leicester East IAPC fly-in on 25 June 1978. Curiously, a quick scan of the many other photos of Austers taken at IAPC fly-ins in the 1970s and 1980s fails to reveal any others that are amongst the Stoke Golding images posted. I’ll have to check, when time permits, to see how many of those which I photographed then are still flying today!

Very nice photos indeed. Perhaps we should have gone there, instead of elsewhere (Bolt Head and Popham) this weekend!
