Sad news that this unique Auster, one of only two built crashed a few days ago. Crew were O.K. but plane is not too well. The plane is registered as an E.3 but was originally an AOP II.

It has not had a lot of luck of late, having gone over on its back at Long Marston in Nov 2005.

That’s a real shame, although I’m glad to hear that the crew are OK. How much damage was there?
I believe the damage is substantial as the pilot attempted a go-round and didn’t make it. The plane had been sold about a month earlier.
