This Auster has just popped up on the New Zealand civil aircraft register.
Can anyone please provide a list of owners for its extensive Australian life as VH-BGB, VH-KEV and as VH-WMM.
Many thanks

Hi guy’s! Good to see some photos of AGY in a previous life! The previous owner is a kiwi and working in aus when he restored the aircraft hence the koru/airnz scheme. We’ll probably change that when time permits. It also went onto the NZCAA register as a J1 although it’s been modified to J1/N configuration, engine, fin, rudder etc..
Cheers and thanks for the photos and history

To date I can now add the following sketchy details.
As VH-WMM from 1957.
With D McBain of Port MacDonnell. South Australia, 1968 ?
G K Thompson, Albury, NSW.
G Dodge, King Island, Tasmania.
Damaged 05-1982.
Restored to register 26-03-1983.
A Hughes, St Arnaud, Victoria, 1984.
Robin Hughes, St Arnaud, V, 10-06-1999.
John Maxwell Kelly, Kalgoorlie, West Australia, 08-09-2000,
Then same owner in Singapore; Ballina NSW 08-05-2007; then Nelson area of New Zealand 14-05-2006 ?
Sold 05-04-2007.
VH registration cancelled 17-02-2012.
Interestingly – as at January 2012, it is still listed on the CASA list with the Cirrus Minor engine.
Registered as ZK-AGY/2 (AGY being the middle three letters of its original UK registration) 27-04-2012.
Any additions most welcome.
Thanks

Thank you so far.
I already have the G-INFO and Ed Coates details thanks.
I am trying to expand on its Australian ownership.
It is now registered as ZK-AGY to one Ritchie De Montalk.
If we look back in ZK history we will see that a gentleman with this same name had the Proctor ZK-AVW ex G-AHWW “Kiwi Wanderer” of ex A J Bradshaw fame.

First registered owner of VH-BGB was BGB !!! one B.G. Black 8.4.52
By 4.54 it had been re-registered to A.E. Dicken, Glenely.
VH-KEV (1) was registered on 26.6.54 possibly to the same owner.
By 1958 c/n 1991 had been re-registered VH-WMM and there followed at least nine more owners up to 2007.
Two accidents are also recorded, in 1975 and 1983, causing temporary absences from the register.

Don’t know much about its life “down under”, except for what I found at http://www.edcoatescollection.com/ac1/austmz/VH-WMM.html Quote:
“Another rare period shot of an Auster by Geoff Goodall. “Rare” in that it spent much of its life in South Australia, and shots from that state are not as common as those from the eastern seaboard states. Geoff also took the photograph of it immediately below at the March 1985 Mangalore air show. The final image, by Phil Vabre (foot of page) shows -WMM beautifully attired in spats, at the 2007 AAAA Fly-In at Echuca. Current” [2008] “owner John Kelly advises that Whiskey Mike has been rebuilt from the ground up, following a mammoth towing job across the Nullaboor Plain from St. Arnaud, Victoria to Western Australia!
The Cirrus Minor engine was replaced with a Gypsy Major, making it, in essence, a Model J/1N. First flight of the rebuild took place on 14 December 2003 at Jandakot, WA. VH-WMM was originally built as a straight J/1 registered G-AGYJ and was exported to Australia in 1952 wherein it first became VH-BGB. Re-registration to VH-KEV occurred in 1954, and it was re-registered again to VH-WMM in 1957.”
” It’s thought the owner has an connection with Air New Zealand, hence the colours.“
