Auster Mk.III

I have to admit that this is my first ever message to the Forum, so here goes. Based near me is Auster Mk.III G-AREI. When I was a young lad (long time ago now) I had a part time job at my local airfield cleaning aeroplanes etc (pseudo hangar rat) and upon my first day there, I spied this aeroplane in military markings in the hangar and thought wow. 22 years later and having been involved since then with aviation ever since, I managed to get a flight in the same aeroplane, that being G-AREI. It truly was a memorable experience. Now, I do have a lot of photos of her, but havent a clue on how to post them, so perhaps given a little bit of time (and patience), I’ll get around to posting them here.

Got to love those Mk.III’s!
I am actually comtemplating the build of a rubber powered Mk.III at 24″ wingspan,but haven’t decided yet.
The sword boxart looks great,hopefully I can get a photo.
Same for me regarding the database,guess I’ll just have to try later.

Welcome to the forum, and excellent choice of aircraft, Auster III’s are my favourite aircraft of all time! I’m also building the Sword kit too (take it your building it). Have you tried the Australian War Memorials database? I tried to but it wouldn’t load, probably busy, just type in ‘Auster’ and i’m sure you’ll find some good photos
