Hi All
Would anyone have any details on the correct way to remove the wings from an Auster Mk5?
I have searched the web but have not had any luck yet.
Kindest Regards
AC

when we built our racking we put it in wheels and made it wing height so you can chuck a couple of cushions / carpet on top and rest wings on it when removing them.

Indeed ! I learnt that lesson years ago with a Beagle Husky that had an engine failure in Oxfordshire ! The angle on the rear pins is particularily awkward and narrow !

If everything is prepped well should be five minures to take off

Outboard of struts and near wing root . Bear in mind that fabric is not very forgiving so most people tend to.make sure that all wing pins and bolts move first then have four people support the wing whilst one person takes out struts then wing pins

Unlikely to have wing tanks . Pretty straight forward to remove – front and rear wing pins that are split pinned and a little arkward to get to. Ideally a long drift with a nylon end or copper makes it easier . Then aileron balance cable and then disconnect aileron cables. Next is elec disconnect if fitted for lights . After all this support at front and rear inboard and outboard – remove top strut bolts and lower bolt and remove . Wing should be ready to remove. Bear in mind wing pins might have been in for a while so penetrating oil on them first for a hour or so !
