Australia releases white paper

The Aussies have released the white paper in which its detailed the spending and the upgrades. Firstlly the deffence budget now at 12 billion will be increased by 500mill this yeat and 1bill bext year and more for the next decade up to 23.5bill in 2010.
Impressibe thing about OZ is theat this large budget will still be under 2% of total GDP.

The additional funds around 20-30 bill will be spent for aqusition of new equipment.Here is the list of general plans.

ADF in general.
-Increase personel by 10%
-Increase level of readines and profesinalism
-consider new developments and stratedies such as offshore bases.

ARMY:
– Add extra 2 batalions of 3000 men.
-Upgrade and aqire new APC
– 20 new strike/recon choppers plus 12 transports
-New small equp. as kevlars and NW gogles, continue to invest in production of new types of assoult arms.

NAVY:
– Atleast 3 new destroyers
-Continue funnding to Collins class untill all six ships are up to preformance set before.
-New deployment ships type cattamorane.
-Evaluate and consider benefits of carrier ship which could also double as cargo.
-New on board arms and combat systems for all vessels.

AIR FORCE:
-Max Upgrade for all exisitng planes
-Purchase of 100 new planes to repleace hornets and possibly f111
-New SAMs
-Purchase 4 AWACs with posibility of 4 more.
-Purchase of Ospreys (can sombody give me correct spelling ..thanx)

Now hire is the list and appart of Osprays and Boeing AWACs no specific type of product and its manifacturers have been given. So what do you guys think will be purchases for the above specifications ie. F22/Typhoon for Planes or AH64 for chppopers etc. As for SAM plans ..any chance the OZ will look beyond US influence and go for S300 series which are far better and far cheeper than is rivals?
