Australian Airlines new destinations

Australian Airlines had planned to add Boeing 767-338ER VH-OGO to it’s fleet in July, however due to the down turn in traffic as a result of SARS this will now not take place.
Current planning is that Australian Airlines will now add a fifth aircraft in October. Australian will add Denpasar, Melbourne and Sydney to it’s network effective June 27 with the introduction of a weekly (Saturday) service Sydney-Melbourne-Denpasar-Melbourne-Sydney. Kota Kinabalu,Malaysia, will be added to the Australian network effective June 29 with the introduction of a weekly (Monday) service Sydney-Kota Kinabalu-Sydney.
From July 30 the Kota Kinabalu service will operate twice weekly (Wed-Thurs) with aircraft routed Cairns-Singapore-Kota Kinabalu-Sydney and Sydney-Kota Kinabalu-Singapore-Cairns.
Australian scheduled a proving flight from Sydney to Kota Kinabalu on May 21st with 767-338ER VH-OGL operating as flight AO 7863. VH-OGL then remained in Kota Kinabalu until May23 when it returned to Sydney as Flight AO 7864.

How is Australian Airlines doing on a whole? Such destinations like Kota Kinabalu would be interesting to monitor at the moment. I guess it is for tourism mostly?

Steve, I think you need to change your title to “Down Under Guru,” you are all over the Aussie aviation news, mate! Nice job. You ever notice that around this time, (11 p.m. for me, 4 p.m. for you) we’re the only ones on? This post 999 for me. I have to make 1000 a good one.
