Australian Airlines has been granted its air operator’s certificate, allowing it to begin flights on October 27.
The granting of the certificate, from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), means Australian complies with the strict air safety rules administered by regulator.
CASA has also conducted a “proving flight” to observe Australian Airlines pilots, cabin crew and ground staff in action and has approved key operational personnel.
CASA said it worked with the airline for four months and the manuals approved by it will form a starting point for regular safety checks and airline audits.
“CASA sets high safety standards because that’s what the Australian public demands and I’m very pleased to say Australian Airlines has met all the requirements,” CASA’s Director of Aviation Safety, Mick Toller said.
Australian Airlines will initially operate four 767-300 aircraft between Cairns and Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei. – Travelpress
