Beau footage
Hi – noticed your post about the AU Beaufighter program and the fact that you have video/DVD.
My father was a Beaufighter pilot active in North Africa, Italy and Burma … its his 85th birthday this September and I’ve been trying to track down Beau footage on the internet (not alot there !).
Would it be possible for me to get a copy of the footage on DVD from you (all expenses paid)
rsvp
with thanks
John

As another Perthite, and one whose works then, I too have missed this. Bummer. Problem is, I don’t tend to check the daytime listings too carefully, as I’m never there to watch the thing, and as TV here is generally so hopeless I don’t tend to worry. Paying the price now, aren’t I!!

Unfortunately, the local TV guide in Perth had the font so small that “Whispering Death” was almost unnoticable, and I missed the first 40 minutes. I rang SBS and the very helpful programming enquiries person told me that they would be rerunning it sometime in the next 12 months. She also gave me a contact address for the producers:
30 Squadron RAAF Association
1 Eucalyptus Street,
Peakhurst 2210
Perhaps you can try getting a copy there. Hopefully, you lot won’t beat me to it, and there’ll be a copy left for me by the time I get around to posting the letter.

Hi Stormbird
I got it recorded in HDTV which I am now burning to DVD – if you are good santa will bring you one early!!
Not of course that I would ever do such a thing!!!
The color footage at the start of the DAP Beau 21s flying over the sea etc was I think very rare footage of operations out of 2 OCU Or OTU at Williamtown NSW. The rockets are being fired at Seal Rock off Williamtown and I once visited there and it was covered with corroded spent rockets and cannon rounds
As you say great footage

FANTASTIC DOC
Thank’s so much for the ” Head’s up ” Setter(John) ๐ .
I would have been really spewing if I had missed that one mate !!!! ๐ฎ .
Funny John,
Just before I saw this thread, a cut out picture of Blue Truscott in his fighter on the mesh at Milne bay, fell out of one of the book’s my mate Bob Hannan gave me.
And then of course there he was on the show ๐ฎ .
Top show it was too.
Liked the bit where the old boy talking about his time flying the Beau, and losing the oil pressure on one engine, and was told by other’s to push that engine up to flat out, then when it stop’s suddenly, and the prop shear’s off, the Beau will fly better on one engine!!!.
But he did say he was not game enough to try it himself.
How was that plane that landed with only half a wing at that!!! ๐ฎ
My S.B.S. is a bit poor at the moment, so my copy’s a bit cr@p. So I might ask’s at the local S.B.S./ABC shop, about a real copy ๐ .
