Australia was one of the first Chinook customers, we bought 20 of the C models back in the late 60’s, they served in Vietnam and were then retired. The Blackhawk was supposed to be a replacement for them and the Troop carrying UH-1’s, but they just didn’t have the same capability, so we traded the old C’s back as payment for some new D models, and the puplic love theses machines (And that’s the main thing)!
As part of the force restructure, all Army related aviation is now directed under the Army’s Aviation Brigade, thus all the CH-47’s that were in RAAF service found themselves in the %th Aviation Regiment of the Australian Army Aviation Brigade or AAAB, any one is the AAAB can be distinguished in a prade by their light blue (NATO like) Berrets!
I can do it, but I need your support!
