Austrian Airlines to get nine F100s, +6 on option!

Austrian Airlines Buys Nine Fokker 100
Monday March 1, 3:52 am ET

VIENNA (Dow Jones)–Austrian Airlines AG said Monday it has purchased nine Fokker 100 aircraft and is planning to acquire another six. The aircraft were previously operated by American Airlines , though Austrian Airlines refused to reveal the identity of the selling party.
The economic upturn as well as successful marketing strategies have resulted in rising passenger levels, the carrier said. With the purchase of the new jets, Austrian Airlines will be able to expand services to central and eastern European markets, it said.

The carrier has also ordered two A319 Airbuses which are about to be delivered. Four MD 87 aircraft will be removed from service.

Speaking of Fokker jets…

They are the smallest commericial aircraft ever outfitted with PTVs-Sempati put PTVs in their F70s.

Yep. It’s nice here. You know I lived 25 years in PAris area.
Among that 11 years just next to ORY. Now I have changed my life and even if I miss a bit plane spotting , I don’t miss the big city.

However BIQ is a nice airport and I’m looking dorward the summer traffic. We might be able to see some interesting traffic theN.

If you’re interested , here is BIQ website.

Do you still live in Bayonne? Do you often go to Paris, or Marseilles, Bordeaux or so for spotting?

I remember back in the 90’s KL had a flght in the morning from ORY to AMS that I used to catch.
They were operating an F100 on this route. This is a very confortable a pleasant a/c. I like it 🙂

This shows that there is a market for those 100 seats jets.
The B717 and A318 should be more succesful. Maybe they are too expensive and the airlines do prefer the second hand market.
