Don’t like Marmite

The Avanti has something about it, I like it but if asked couldn’t explain exactly why.

I recon someone was looking to replicate the sound of a Harvard with its prop in fine pitch. Didn’t succeed though.

Are we turning this into an avanti topic?

I like the shape of this thing, can only be made by Italians.

I think the propellors are pushers because the fuselage tapers back behind the wing, giving more space for the props.
The engines also provide a counterweight for the long (unobstructed) cabin before the wing.
These props turn so fast that the tips are close to the soundbarier in speed, this in turn is the cause for the very loud noise they make.

Don’t know about noise reduction, I certainly notice when one flies over! 😎

By the way, lovely photo – I also love the look of them!

They certainly sound different to most turboprops but I wish there were more of them in and out of Kidlington. I reckon the Avanti has turned out to be the machine that fills the niche the Beech Starship was aimed at, I liked them too/

Great pic Keith:) Shame about the subject;) Sorry, but IMO it’s just ‘plane’ ugly, a face only its builder could love.:( But I do like Marmite!

Nice pic there Keith, thanks for sharing.:)

Personally, I can’t stand Marmite myself, however, this thing just looks beautifully weird in its own unique way, so much so that I happen to like it!

One question though, can anyone explain the reason for the props being on “back to front” so to speak, does this help to boost performance or reduce noise perhaps?
