RAF wittering has had 6.000ltrs of aviation fuel nicked for the harrier (lol) does this use the same as any other aircraft?
This is from todays paper they cut through the perimiter fence ( fantastic security) good job they didn’t plant a bomb.!!

Yep, it’s F34 FSII , I’d be suprised if it’s all been nicked, more likely been lost in cross bulks poorly calculated, drain offs & hose flushing.
First port of call for the fuzz would be near by pikey encampments

Must be for the Sea Harrier that is listed on Ebay so maybe we will see it at Legends this year!
Assuming it has been stolen and not simply lost in due to poor record keeping it seems a pretty pointless theft to me as it can’t be a lot of good to many people and those who may be able to make use of it must be pretty tightly regulated so they are unlikely to be able to get away with using stolen fuel even if they thought it worth the risk in the first place.

Unless they nicked it for use in a drag racer!
But the security at the MOD must be a joke.

Avtur makes great diesel, just add a dash of oil to keep the pump sweet & off you go. 😉

Avtur = Kerosene
Central Heating Oil = Kerosene
Hmmmmm….tricky question huh 😀

Its for heating someones home. We used to do that, when large quantities of fuel was drained from aircraft

….you saying pikeys are using Harriers now……….
I can tell you one thing makes a Spitty smoke like a train :diablo:

Diesel powered light aircraft run happily on (untaxed) AVTUR straight from the pumps that feed turboprops and jet airliners.

Just what i was thinking. No matter that it might not work properly… as i doubt that it will come with an aftersale guarantee.

Probably powering someones central heating as we speak.

Arrrgh that may be it then it’s off in your cars good luck with your fuel pumps and injectors. lol…

Sea Harriers used AVCAT F44 but could use F34 as well, often the navy types caught the unwary refueller operator out on de-fuels thus contaminating a tanker with F34 in it- pays to check first.

Many years ago an aquaintance of mine used to run the York diesel in his Ford Tranny on fuel that was intended for Tornados… 😉

Tranny van or pikey 4×4 would run very happily on the stuff.
Been very brazen in the past, cutting there way in to Airfields and trashing Police Helicopters up and down the country.

The use of politically incorrect phraseology in this forum is to be deplored.
The correct term is Transit, for heaven’s sake. 😡

What newspaper was that then? However you should never let the facts get in the way of a good story. So, to quote the Stamford Mercury:
The first raid took place during the day on January 12 when the crooks made off with 6,000 litres of fuel worth £1,500 from a private depot outside the base’s security perimeter.
When the thieves returned for a second attempt, under the cover of darkness five days later on January 17, an armed patrol spotted that part of a fence had been cut and a padlock cut off
and
A police spokesman for described the theft as “unusual” and said that as the fuel was on a privately-owned site next to the base it was a civil crime and therefore its officers would be leading the investigation.
Puts a slightly different slant on it.

Will remember that next time you refer the Lancaster as Lanc or the Spitfire as a Spit etc.
petty minds.
