Well after a hectic few weeks the Museum opened to the public yesterday, and it seems the public are suitably impressed!. A few things still need doing, and another exhibit is still to arrive from Italy, which I can’t comment on just yet. Hard to capture how life like the mannequins are in the photos..they were done, along with the sets, by Weta workshops, the same people who did the Lord of the Rings props – some talented people I can tell you!

And on the 5.00pm Postcard’s show on channel 9, they had a run through the Aviation Heritage Center 😮 .
Look’s an amazing place, so life like and emotive, you could almost smell it :p .
The reporter laughed at the fake bird ****, it’s a nice touch I reckon:D
A little tribute to the other little flyer’s 😎 .
The dude finished off with, if there is one place you should go when you visit N.Z. it should be the Aviation Heritage Center.
I think he was mighty impressed 😉

Hi Cees
Yes some of those people built the full scale Se.5 and Re.8., no news on the Lanc replicas, they keep things close to their chest until it is time.

Hi Dave,
Aren’t these the same people who are said to be building ten full size Lancasters for the new Dambusters movie? Any new on that one? Their own site hasn’t any news on the state of progress apart from the Peter Jackson interview where it was said that one airframe was finished.
Cheers
Cees
