Aviation music

Browsing YouTube I found a few songs about aviation. It seemed like such a sunday thing to do, that I wanted to share a few links.

Salutes of blue (A few nice flying clips ala 1957).

Give me operations (Not much visual, but a song that mention counter rotating props are always worth listening to).

Sure there are plenty more….lets see a few postings.

Father had Oscar Brand’s “The Wild Blue Yonder” LP which featured all of the USAAC and USAF favourites. I must have worn it out playing it endlessly. It’s available in a four CD set.

Surprised no-one’s found “Wir Fliegen Gegen England” yet….;)

Jonn Serrie composes dreamy music for planetariums and other New Age works, but at least one of his albums, “Flightpath” is dedicated to aviation.

I don’t like all of the tracks on it, but “Muroc” is a very peaceful and relaxing work. It’s a tribute to the early flight testing at Muroc (now Edwards AFB.)

Bah!

I’ve scoured YouTube for it, but sadly nobody has posted the opening segment of 633 Squadron (though there are plenty of videos with the usual “big band” version (which I don’t like as much)).

There is this bit, though:

Incidentally, I DID manage to get hold of the actual soundtrack CD – good fun! 😀

A good few on here! http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=85638

Nice thread.

In particular I love Bruggen 130 posting “Let if be” with the Beatles…

10 post asking for the aviation connection…..then:

Brugge 130:

“Sea king words of wisdom, let it be”.

Maybe I should suggest “Imagination – Just An Ilyushin”………maybe not!

July Skies have a number of aviation related songs, quite a few inspired by airfields.

I have always enjoyed the music used for the BoB film and the “Mosquito Squadron, and they make good sound overs at airshows, but the “Snoopy and Red Baron” song has really worn out its welcome for me.

Just located The US Army Air Force song (also known as Wild blue yonder) with a nice old film reel.
