This years US Airshow for me was the event at Nellis in November, as usual a spectacular event, but I missed preformences by F-15 and F-16 display teams, but the Canadian CF-18, USAF A-10 and F-22 did some spectacualar moves.

Am i correct in thinking that those pics cover the complete set of early MiG fighters – 15,17 and 19?
No, there’s no MiG 19, the silver one is a 15 and the two red ones are both 17s.

Hej PL 🙂
Sigma 55-200 is way to slow for “jetshooting”, I tried a friends lens and could not get back to my lenses soon enough. Your camra is plenty good, but the lens holds you back.
A Canon 70-200 F4 L USM is a good place to start. I got mine 2 years ago and use it for almost anything, and it turns out grate images. I also have a 1.4 extender that I use every once in a while. I usually stop it down 2 steps and the images are tack sharp and contrast is lovely.
I got the 100-400 IS L lens, both because I liked the extra range, and the IS. The image quality is very nice indeed. It’s a bit soft @ 400 MM wide open, but stop it down 2 steps and IS mode 1 works wonders, I got shots pin sharp down to 1/50 @400mm and F8
Being perfect at panning also helps. Splendid shots, all worthy of magazine publication.

Great pictures, fantastic clarity. Just the last shot of the thunderbirds crew is confusing..
That the pilot is ready to undo the bra for the grandfinale is clear, but why are the guys undoing theirs???:D

Great pictures. You probably know, but your camera sensor needs a bit of a clean. The dust spots are quite visible on a lot of the images.
Cheers

That’s something, wish I’d get access to the vip tent 😀

Hi 🙂
I left my camera with a friend when I went to get food and drinks. That was the worst organised I ever did see. And whos idea was that to buy tickets first and then que up for another one. or two depending on what kinda food you wanted.
Last year at Oceana this was orgenized in a much better way
I was lucky enough to park at the Red lot so we did’t have to wait all night for a bus. the que for the blue lot when I left was close to a kilometer long, and I’m not exaturating. it went all the way to the bleachers
I didn’t think of taking any pictures of that either, but yes, that was the stupidest idea ever. I was in the blue line, but got lucky… We left late, and waited for the queue to get smaller near the C-5 (good luck!), but fianlly, the queue “merged laterally” with us waiting, so, we went with the flow.
It was even tougher, as the week before I was at Thermal, with a performer. Driving your car onto the flightline and eating at the VIP tent – now we’re talking- 😀

Thank you very much for that advice, Scanor – now I know what to buy in the January sales! With the price of camera equipment here in Sweden, it’ll be worth me flying over to the UK, unless I can find a lens on the Internet instead!
God Jul och Gott Nytt År till dig och alla andra Nordbor på forumet!
Tack Tack Papa Lima Merry X-mas 😀

I too was at Oceana last year – one of the best air shows I have ever attended (and I have attended quite a few!)
Got some really good photos too, but nowhere near your quality, so I daren’t put them up!

Very nice shots, indeed.
By the way, did you take any pictures of the lines to get back on the bus (or to get food). I just can’t understand how poorly that was organised…

Stunning photos, I really enjoyed looking through them. It’s lovely to see a Fairey flying, and superb backdrops too 🙂

Excellent shots. Particularly liked the tailend shot of the Phantom in ‘burner.

grate images
Surely not. So bad you want to throw them on the fire?
Well, they look just fine to me! Great set of pics. Love the Tweety Bird especially, I don’t think there are any over here.

Scanor, I used a Canon 350D with 200 mm and Sigma 55-200 lens to get this shot at Reno last year – yours are far more crisp!
Jag har bara tränade med denna utrustning i ett år men det känns som jag måste uppgradera snart!
Besvikelse för mig nu – disappointment for me now:o !
