Some worldwide aviation news:
*Aer Lingus will change its transatlantic routes from October.The Shannon-New York daily services will route Dublin-Shannon-New York,while the call at Shannon on Dublin-Los Angeles services is being abandoned because of poor traffic figures from Shannon.

*Air Do,the Japaneese carrier,has filed for bankruptcy protection but has not suspended operations.It has been in talks with ANA regarding an alliance.

*Air Europa is to double the frequency of its Gatwick-Madrid service from November 1st.

*Egyptian carrier,Air Memphis,is planning to operate a weekly freighter service between Cairo and New York via Amman,Ostend and Shannon.

*Augsburg Airways is to disappear as an airline brand name and nbow operates as a full Team Lufthansa member with 5 Dash 8-Q400s and 8 Dash 8-Q300s.

*Canada West is a new Canadian carrier.It is due to launch operations in the autumn with 2 757-200s out of Vancouver and Edmonton to European holiday destinations.

*From October 30th,Condor is to operate five charter flights from Frankfurt to Jamaica,Venuzuela,Cuba,Barbados/Tobago and St..Lucia.

*Cyprus Airways is planning to launch its own low cost Greek subsidiary in April 2003.The airline,named Hellas Jet,will be based in Athens and will fly to various European destinations.

*Dutch Caribbean Express has increased its Curacao-Amsterdam services from 5 to 7 times a week.The flights are operated by a Sobelair 767-300ER.

*Emirates is planning to launch US services next year with the first of five destinations Chicago,New York and Los Angeles,to be follwed later with flights to South America.Emirates is moving towards a further aircraft order by September.

*GB Airways is to increase its winter Heathrow and Gatwick flights from 8 to 12 a week from Heathrow-Marrakesh-Casablanca service and from Gatwick 3 flights to Marrakesh and 2 more via Tangier.

*Olympic Airways has been in talks with bmi and also Virgin Atlantic over improved co-operation.It plans to increase UK services in the run up to the Olympic Games in 2004 from three to five a week.

*South African Airways is to increase its weekly Heathrow flights from 20 to 21 from October 27th,to make 2 daily services from Johannesburg and daily from Cape Town.

*Volare launched its 2nd daily A320 service into Gatwick from Venice.
