Travel from Blackbush airfield to Fleet. Turn left at the roundabout just before Fleet station and on your right is a pub called Heron on the lake.
Now a trendy rowing theme pub. This pub was once an aviation theme pub. An aircraft also crashed in the lake and was removed.
Anyone have any pictures or knows what aircraft crashed here?
Not to be confused with Fleet Ponds which has had it’s own aircraft crashes.
I seem to remember a possible article in Flypast during the 80’s, 90’s?

It was a Dakota rear fuselage mounted so that it appeared as if it had landed in the lake, think it came from Malta or Cyprus. Other parts of the aircraft were indoors, the main fuselage section formed the sides of the bar and a undercarriage and engine were displayed. It was called ‘Dakotas’ I think.
Someone will be along with the full aircraft details I expect.
