The aviator wins 5 academy awards, several minor ones and the biggest (best supporting actress) for Cate Blanchett as ‘Katie Hepburn’ in the movie….Best picture and best director went to Clint Eastwood for ‘Million Dollar Baby’ and best actor to Jamie Foxx for ‘Ray’…
Just thought you’d want to know…

Hi Turbo NZ
I took your post seriously and watched Blackhawk down again – quite right – no woosy stuff here just good wholesom violence – Great.
I love the smell of Napalm in the morning – now those were the days.
Kindest regards
JP
If you ever get the chance, Setter, read Mark Bowden’s book of the same.
It’s great reading.
The movie actually follows the book not too bad, amazingly.
Cheers

Hi all
I think there should be a board formed to approve Aviation Movies and I should be on it.
In support of my application I propose that there must be at least two minutes of Proper non CGI footage of aircraft (Proper real aircraft no paper mache replica rubbish) for every minute of shelias pretending to do horizontal folk dancing with the pilots.
No woosy crying crap as the pilot leaves for the front just lots of marshall band music as the brave lads Tacca Tacca with each other over the Jungle/Wheatfields/Russian step etc.
I would propose that the Government subvert funding from bleeding heart bulldust stuff like free milk etc to provide subsidies to filmakers to fund restoration of genuine warbirds to appear in the movies and train the necessary pilots etc.
The academy awards be compelled to have a “Best aviation film category” and a best warbird and pilot in a staring role etc as the major award of the night.
John Travolta should also be on the board along with DeCapria (he can make the tea) – Tom Cruise should have to sell the P51 as he’s a big headed woose.
There is lots more I could say in support of me but modesty prevents and you get the picture(Pun intended)
Regards

Seen it and as I’ve said before thought it was great.
-and yes I know I didn’t think it would be and was proved wrong–as usual.
Cheers
