Avro 707 as a fighter?

It has been said many times that the Vulcan had ‘fighter style’ handling and with its tight turns could lose a trailing aircraft; I can only assume that being smaller and lighter the 707 had some of the same characteristics and then some. With the design already there and tested was there ever any thoughts towards using the 707 as a fighter in its own right? At the time the Hunter would have still been a couple of years away so the predominant competition would have been the Meteor and Vampire, how would the 707 have faired against these aircraft?

Would it even have been possible to arm such a design?

13 April,1949: ITPs to Gloster,G.A.5 (Javelin) and D.H.110 as RAF F(AW). First 707 flew Sept.1949, but was “too late to provide other than corroboration” (for Vulcan) D.N.James, Gloster A/C,Putnam,87,P314. Wasn’t it partly of wooden construction? It was Fairey who were funded to explore German delta data, firstly with the (Bachem Natter) F.D.1, then (Lippisch-inspired) F.D.2.

Go on then I`l say it… I dont think so but it was still a good airliner

The two seater was fitted with fly by wire controls while with the R.A.E.
Fly by wire and a delta wing.. Well it worked for the Mirage.
