the anson mentioned by setter is a mk1 fitted with a late model wing it’s being restored to fly as a mk1 but retaining the metal wing .

To confirm what has already been stated, it is a Mk.19. The plans are to refurbish it as static only to reflect that Anson’s operated from Carew Cheriton during the war. There is, I believe, a bid in for a lottery grant to expand visitor facilities to the refurbished control tower and to erect a small hangar for the Anson.

There an “what used to be” nice Anson at the NE Aircraft Museum but due to it being privately owned and there is a bit of a problem between the owners about what should happen to it there has been a lot of rot set in. It’s a nice aircraft and it should be worked on and I hope the problem gets sorted out so that work can be done on it.

Just seen this Anson (VM325) at Carew Cheriton near Pembroke. Still on a low loader with covers on but looks complete albeit a bit grubby. The chaps down there have done a fine job restoring the old Tower and turning it into a bit of a museum. Well worth a look if you are in the area, but only open on Sundays.

Is it to static or airworthy condition?

A few years back I did a brief survey on it when it was at Midland. It was almost too far gone then.

I hope they have some undercover room to work on it, and are ready for the sheer amount of work this will take. Not a restoration for the faint hearted, nor the easiest ‘first’ restoration.

Think it’s post war T21 though couldn’t swear to it, according to the BBC it came from JetAge Museum, their website lists it as VM325- ‘slightly mothed’ as they say…..
