Are there, is there an airworthy Avro Lincoln in the U.K. or one in a static display in the U.K.?.

See post 17. Jim and I have been trying to find news of F/L Stephens for some years but without success. He was the one who organised Lincoln flying for us ATC cadets with 7 Squadron at Upwood in the 1950s.
Anyone know him?

I understand from the โNAM webmasterโ that one or two forumites have been following the link in #39 from September 2011 without success โ for up to date 2013 Aeroboot information you need this link!
I can also report that a good proportion of the tables that are now provided are less puzzling!! :eagerness:

More happy Lincoln memories! My last fight as an Air Cadet was in 1957, in a Lincoln from Lindholme. 90 minutes night flying over the Humber estuary. Unforgetable!, especially the glowing exhaust stacks of the Merlins. Sad that so few have survived.

I can vouch for the kind hospitality of TwinOtter23, although the folding tables they use are like a Rubic’s cube when you try to flat pack them ๐ฎ
well worth the drive to the frozen north last year just get up close to the Mig’s and the Saab.(and the tea !)
Thank you for your kind words! ๐
The ‘table puzzles’ are all part of the joys of the Aeroboot at Newark! ๐

Don’t forget the glider trailer made from the G-37-1 Tyne Linclon fuselarge at Dunstable.
… and big bits of SX924 in a lake in Canada.

There is only one Lincoln in the UK and that is RF398 at RAFM Cosford.
There’s also RE408/B-010 on display in Argentina, they are the only complete Lincolns, there are major parts of one for restoration in Australia.
A total of 4 survivors worldwide.
1 in the UK
RF398 at Cosford
2 in Argentina
RE408/B-010 in their Museum, B-017 Gate Guardian Villa Reynolds
“1” in Australia
Major components of RF342 in storage for future restoration.
A73-27 Cockpit section seperately survives

Sole UK survivor at Cosford; another in Argentina, plus Lancaster / Lincoln in Australia (I think).
There’s a complete Lanc in Perth, Western Australia NX622 which I have been inside.

AMB and Peter,
I did many a training course at RAF Cosford, every time a discussion always arose about the haunted Lincoln, it was backed up by the permanent staff at the station, in the end we were beginning to believe them!.
Gerry R
Actualy, It was I that started the ghost rumour off, somewhere over Germany roundabout the 50s, it appears to have stuck, you can always tell where I have been, I leave a ghostly apahrition behind ๐
