Avro York CF-HMU

Hello,

I’m looking for info on Avro York CF-HMU that was written off after a right main gear collapse in Kuujjuaq, QC (Fort Chimo). Does anyone happen to know what happened to the aircraft? Was it recovered and returned south or scrapped in town?

https://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19560124-0

Any info would be great!

Thanks,
Ryan

Unfortunately no.. Not to much info from those days around in the registry.

J Boyle, I’m guessing you’re talking about CF-HMX near Hall Lake, NU. It’s still there, access is quite difficult so I doubt there has been much taken from the site.

Speaking of Yorks….

Are the substantial remains of the one in northern (or northeast) Canada still there or has it been picked apart by souvenir hunters.?

Ryan,

Keep on digging and don’t give up: you never know until you find something unequivocal. Do Canadian aircraft registry records hold anything?

That’s what I figured, was hoping there was some kind of record of out it there. That would be quite the find at the dump up here.. lol
