Keep an eye out for Major Mark Hammond’s new book Immediate Response if you’d rather read about RAF Chinooks in Afghanistan from DFC winning pilot’s perpective than endless – if important – news stories about whether or not there are enough helicopters in theatre. I think it’s the first time anyone’s written about Chinook ops from the frontline and it really opens your eyes to the incredible job they’re doing out there. It’s gripping stuff.
