AWRE Aldermaston nose/cockpit

Driving past AWRE Aldermaston yesterday & I could just see an aircraft nose/cockpit section through the trees, it was in the S.W. area of the site , near the taxi way that lead to the Vickers’s Spitfire flight test hanger.

Possibly Britannia or Viscount ?

Sorry I haven’t got W&R if its in there.

Aldermaston

Its a Viscount nose & forward fuselage – been there for at least 3 years – it was camoflarged (excuse the spelling) – when i saw it. No idea where it came from or why its there – seem to recall somebody saying it may have been one of the ex RAE Viscounts that used to operate out of Thurleigh before it closed – dont know how true this is.

No, you only think you saw it. After all, Aldermaston does not exist! I drive past frequently and can never see it. Let’s face it, if it is not on the Ordance Survey map how can it exist?

You could always try stopping and taking a photograph and see how long it is before you get arrested for photographing something that does not exist.
