Discussions elsewhere on the forum about Channel wrecks reminded me I had this. Something I retrieved from the horizontal stabilizer that was laying on the beach at Pevensey Bay in 1970.
It is from a loss on 6.9.1943 after coming back from Schweinfurt. I have full details in my files, but not readily to hand.
Anyone tell me anything more about this data plate?
It is a B17 F, Customer Vega.
Wt: 194
Delivery Date: 12.7.1942
(Those details in case unclear on scan)

I visit the beach there at least once a month and have “spies” to keep me informed as to anything that comes up. But I may have missed something. I missed a Bramo radial a few months ago!!
It is possible, since there was a Whitley offshore here but I think it more likely your informant may be getting confused with the big B-17 wing sections and u/c legs that came up a few years back.

Hi Andy – I can’t help with the B17 – I’m sure someone on wiz could help however.
On the same track though, can you confirm that it was a bit of whitley wing that ended up on the beach a Hastings in the last year of so? No one there I have spoken too can confirm it and none of the fishermen are owning up to it either! I’ve been told I’m mixing it up with the B17 wspar section that was dredged up about 10 years ago but I don’t think so…
Thanks for any help you can give.
