B-17 part identity

Does anybody have a B-17 parts list? We are trying to id some parts dug up at Horham airfield, most of which are obvious. However, one piece we are not sure of. It is embossed with the following.
Boeing 41-9831-53
It looks like a double flanged bush, about 1 1/2″ in diameter and is blue anodised aluminium. Any ideas?
Thanks in anticipation.

Jim and all,
Thanks very much for that, it makes perfect sense as a spacer! We can label it correctly now, good stuff!

There may be more parts need identifying……

Thanks again,

Adrian

Hi…According to my -4, the part Number 41-9831-53 is a Spacer Engine Control Lever, from the Control Stand Mixture Control Levers. This is part of the Control pedestal, where the throttles, mixture levers, prop pitch, cowl flap control, etc are located.

I have also seen blue anodising on pneumatic parts, mainly couplers, they too had retained their colour despite spending a long time in the ground.

Hi Tankbarrel!,

Although I’m not too sure I can visualise your description I do recall seeing blue anodising on the B-17’s mainwheel tyre valves. The example I saw still had very strong colour blue colour on it after some 60 years in the ground. This might be the same item?
