Sperry-Emerson A-1A-C turret
This is the upper local turret that was installed on B-17s only. If anyone knows where I can get a repro parts or overhaul manual, please let me know. Not interested right now in spending $250 for the originals. Also interested in any parts that might be available for this rare turret. Original gunsight and ammo cans have been found.

turretboy is absolutely correct…when a part comes in the mail and she asks what it’s for and how much…just do like I do and say it’s for the turret project and that it was only about $20.
If my wife knew how much $$$ I’ve dumped into my ball turret project she’d probably throw me out of the house (and also demand that she spend an equal amount on clothes, shoes, etc.)!

Always keep your eyes open and don’t tell your wife how much you are spending!
As for turret parts (structural components), I personally have never really seen any reproduction parts for sale. The structural components themselves are very difficult to find, but it is the usually the smaller electrical/gunsight parts that are easier to find.
But, I’m still looking for a MKIIC gyro gunsight!
Keep an eye on Ebay. I have found that when it rains parts, it always pours!

I know there are some individuals on here that have been building their own turrets. Can you give me any words of wisdom concerning the daunting task of finding, fabricating, and building a WWII turret?
