B-17G 44-83821

I’ve just come across a type F-1 airspeed indicator with the type and serial number for this B-17G written on the back in pencil “B-17G 44-83821”. Anyone know any details about this ship? I did a quick check and all I could find was that it was a Douglas-built example, and had had some kind of mishap at Mitchell Field in New York, date unknown. Just curious to know if there is any information out there.

Cheers,
Richard
