B-17s in Memphis Belle

I was just watching a dcoumentry and they mention the fact they had 5 b-17s for the film. 2 American based examples, Sally B, and 2 French operated examples. I guess one of the French examples was Pink lady but who was the ther example and whats happened to in now?
Which ones where the 2 American examples used?

I was working at Johnson-Mathey in Royston when they were filming, and they came over a couple of times a day! Four or Five fortresses in formation is an awesome sight.

Wish I’d known they needed extras though.

Steve.

Some erk at Duxford had a moan at me after he found out that just about anyone who worked there could go for a *jolly* as an extra during the week. Apparently he was miffed he hadn’t gone & I’d been up several times… Made it quite clear that anyone who went more than once just wasn’t playing cricket… & at then time they had a hard time finding faces to fill windows & gun positions. sod im 🙂

I noticed in a previous thread that someone mentioned the idea of a website to collect together into one place all the photos and memories people have of the making of the film. Did that idea ever come to anything? If not would people be interested if i made it happen and got it online either on my own web space or with its own domain name.
I am happy to put something together if people are interested, i have lots of spare time on my hands now and i am happy to make this happen if others are interested.
The website design offer also goes to any other project people are involved in, or if their project already has a website but would like it updated i am happy to do that for no cost.
If you are interested in that offer feel free to either contact me either by e-mail or privite message.

I second that. There is a huge, excellent thread from last year, which will address all your questions.

Yup, ‘Pink Lady’ was one of the French ones, the other one crashed on take-off from Binbrook during filming and was totally destroyed.

There is extensive information on the forum about this, including a wealth of photographs.
