Does anyone know the whereabouts of the B-26 rear fusalage section that was on display at the ‘Rebel air museum’ at Earls Colne.?
The museum has shut now but I never got to see it.
Hopefully someone has got it put away until I can buy it and put it on display.

I think it ended up at Duxford, together with the remains of a B17 from the same yard.
I cannot recall what happened after that, except I seem to remember reading that “someone” had decided they were too far gone to restore.
The B17 co-pilot’s control column is a foot away from me as I type and my chum has the other one – happy days! 🙂

This will be the one found in a Warrington scrapyard, circa 1970/71.
I have the engine control pedestal from the same aeroplane. Me and my pal spent a very cold and wet afternoon stripping it out of the cockpit.
Sadly, someone had beaten us to the control yokes or we would have had them too!
What happened to the cockpit then? Was is scrapped?

Theres nice mural of Flak Bait in the restaraunt of Andrewsfield in Essex where B26 used to fly from.

It is still stored at Earls Colne and due to be displayed in the future at Marks Hall

Sorry, it appears I wasn’t paying proper attention! Anyway I have just spoken to Alan who say’s it is still near Earls Colne undercover and is being ‘looked after’. However he’s not sure who actually owns it.

With 202 combat missions !!! to her credit, even ‘truly awesome’ is an understatment.
I’m glad to hear she is still ‘tatty’ & not in new factory fresh paint (restored).

I am pretty sure that it is not on display at Duxford, It was there in the late 70’s but then moved to Earls Colne.
The Rebel air museum had quite a few exhibits on show from what I have been told, so they must have gone somewhere.

At the Milton Keynes Aviation Society meeting last week Alan Crouchman (general Manager of North Weald Flying Services) gave an excellent illustrated talk on Marauder operations at Willingale, Essex. In the course of summing up he ran through surviving airframes and showed a rear fuselage that was now preserved and in a display at Duxford after having been sitting outside for some time.
