Just happened across a site called ‘Warbird News’ and it mentions that this lovely old aircraft should fly in May!!
Wonder if it will be at….Midland later in the year! Be great to see it fly with Fifi!

Hi All,
I have been following this B-29 for a couple of years, the original saviour/restorer/owner of Doc has passed the baton a few months back, I am glad to say though she has come on leaps and bounds. The Doc’s story is a tumultuous one and can be followed below give any support you can.

There is a running thread on the WIX forum regarding the restoration of “Doc” which is updated regularly by a gentleman involved with the project. An extremely exciting project for sure but I tend to agree with mexicanbob that a May test flight is unlikely. Unless they mean May of 2015 which, in my opinion, may still be awfully optamistic. Whenever it is finished it will certainly by a magnificent achievement.

I’m willing to bet that they are at least a year out from flying Doc. The work is first rate and it will be a beautiful plane for sure but there is so much left to do. If I didn’t have to spend my spare time working on “FIFI”, I’d love to be able to help them out.

Some Americans don’t do things by halves – the B-29 is a very big, complex and heavy aeroplane, even by today’s standards. It has four ruddy great motors and props, too.
Hats off to the people who made this happen – well connected or not.

Fantastic!
Always liked the B29. Ever since I saw Duxford’s one just after it arrived as a young lad

Indeed, albeit a ‘small group of partners’ who are very well-connected in the aviation industry. Nonetheless, a great achievement.

A huge project for a small group of partners to undertake.
