There’s an old thread on WIX about it including some input from the landowner but it hasn’t been updated for 3 years.

The nose shape is different on the B-18s… the -A/Bs had the bombardier’s position (over the nose gunner) moved forward, “giving it that two-level effect”.

There appear to be 6 survivors of all marks of B-18, but 4 are A’s and B’s, only 2 including the one in Hawaii are B-18(no suffix)’s.

Well, this from the owner of the wreck site is quite wrong; “This appears to be one of only two B-18’s still in existence. Clearly it has historical importance and so we have some questions before we give it away.” There are five survivors in museums in the US. One was right next to me when I lived in Denver some years ago.

Dunno about anyone else but I can’t help feeling that if it was a B17 rather than a B18 someone would have had it out of there long ago…

Looking at the other forum links it force landed and was too remote for recovery. It is still sliding gently into the ravine. Looking it up, the B18 Bolo was a spectacularly ugly aircraft. It makes an Albermarle look like a sports car.

It’s only lost when you don’t know where it is, what’s the story, did it force land was robbed of useable spares and pushed into the ravine?
