Long-term North Weald resident has completed its rumoured move to Wycombe Air Park (Booker). The UK’s second most neglected WW11 bomber is now stored dismantled in the yard between two hangars, quite near the airfield entrance.
The fuselage has been lifted onto the roof of a Portacabin, whilst the wings and tail surfaces are stored nearby. The condition of the airframe is generally rough, and the fuselage is mainly gutted, with corrosion evident.
With the spar sawn through, it is not a likely candidate for a flying restoration, though Tony Bianchi (Personal Plane Services) has inspected it
( ie wandered round from next door to see what had turned up)
This aeroplane is a minor film star, appearing in a curious colour scheme in ‘633 Squadron’ (1963) but was primarily used in the movie as a camera ship.
In later years, it was displayed at the Southend aviation museum

I think you need to stop taking everything literally.
This particular aircraft stands as much chance of taking to the air under its own power as I do.
Someone was pulling your leg…..

I ment the B-25 not the lincon although it would be nice to see a lincon fly again.

I was actually thinking of the ‘other’ Sandtoft relic, the even-more knackered ex-‘Hanover Street’, ex-Blackbushe, ex-Coventry (T)B-25.
There was a mention a little while ago that it was leaving these shores, and that might actually have happened now.

Good job on saving this long suffering airframe. When I looked at it some ten years ago it alreayd looked awful. Hope it’s being brought back to static condition in RAF colours (of Dutch 322 Squadron possibly? 😀 ). I like Mitchells with invasion stripes and a big bomb logs.
Cheers

What a defeatist attitude! Looks like with a little bit of spit and polish and a good afternoons work she could be up in no time! :p
On a serious note welldone to Barry for saving her.

Bedsheet bomber was also involved in another film in the mid ’80s, I seem to remember it had a minor repaint with the application of Red Stars, can anyone remember the film.
