I suppose Paul Allen has built a track record of having aircraft rebuilt to immaculate standards – whilst he might not fly them regularily – he isn’t actually obliged to. I cannot remember any aircraft he has left to ‘rot’ – if ‘Grumpy’ is hangared at North Weald – I should imagine the rate of deterioration is the same as any other aircraft in a hangar.

But on the other end, the planes are saved end will be well preserved. And if they don’t fly they will survive for a very long time.

Paul Allen has twelve planes under active restoration and a further twelve awaiting restoration. Mr. Grumpy would appear to be in the latter half unless it has been sold to another. There always seems to be a conspiracy of silence concerning its future.:confused:

No been run a couple of times and the tyres get pumped up etc – but would now need major check before getting airborne again

whats has happened to grumpy?

any news on what the future holds for the ex TFC machine, B25 grumpy? it seems to be sitting waiting at North Weald for nearly 3 years gathering dust. I thought Paul Allens flying heritage collection had bought it? Have they now sold it on?

The Lightning has been moved to a new home in Cumbria, it went by road a week ago, all due to BA wanting it shifting or they would “scrap it”.

I believe Bedsheet Bomber is to stay at WAP, as a gate guardian. What’s happening to the current gate guardian, I don’t know.

As for Grumpy – still at the Weald and will be for the foreseeable future.

bedsheet bomber has been moved recently to wycombe air park, booker. I saw her just last saturday. Intentions are to restore her to static condition. But where will she be on display?? I would love to lend a hand to restore her. Anyone know any contacts to offer my services?
