B25 silver lady

Well. without making asumptions, it looks like b25j silver lady may be coming to europe, possibly the uk. its down as a static at dunsfold in august, but does anybody know who the new owner may be? Curiously, if a uk based collector wanted a b25, what about the ex tfc machine ‘grumpy’? i’m guessing it needs alot of work or as stated is overpriced.
cheers

There is talk going around that she might be doing some formation flying with the DUKE OF BRABENT B25 at an air show next month, has any one heard of this could be a nice sight?

In view of what Dave Poile recently explained here about this aircraft, I am surprised to see that Silver Lady is still mentioned on the latest news element of the website advertising the Elvington airshow. The other airshow sites have removed all reference to it.

Perhaps Elvington know something different, but I suspect no-one has shared this thread with them to alert them to check it out further. They’re even showing an illustration of the B-25 – hope no-one goes all the way there just to see it, only to find they’re disappointed. Sadly they don’t give an email address but if anyone here knows the organisers it might be worth giving them a heads up?

Its not so strange in itself that a Aircraft is booked to appear at a Airshow despite not being in the UK, Several Aircraft do this every year and unfortunatley not all turn up due to servicabliity etc, What is odd is that nobody seems to know who is operating or claiming to operate “Silver Lady” and it seems there is no information to support the “story” of her coming to the UK, It seems a huge hoax.

As for claiming to operate it, someone who ought to spend some time being medicated in company with nice doctors and nurses I think. As for who owns the a/c, check out post #13.

seems strange that somebody could book an aircraft for an airshow, without it actually being in the uk?

According to the news section of their website Silver Lady is scheduled to be in the static display at Elvington.

However, they are also still advertising the Vulcan to be headlining the show and with only two weeks before the show the thing hasn’t even flown yet.

Another participant is listed as a RNHF Swordfish, also a non flyer at the moment I believe.

I also see from another thread on this forum that the victor is short of funds and may not be able to do its fast taxi run at the same show!

Take these out of the equation and the program looks a quite weak. Very sad really, I remember just a few years ago they put on one of the best shows I have ever attended (and that takes in a fair number). A well thought out program with a good mix of aircraft from WW1 to the modern era.

Do you remember seeing some ramp tramps legging it down the runway after the WWI Fokker and Sopwith Triplanes?…. one of them was me!….. It was a good show, shame it seems to have gone to the dogs. False advertising too… tut tut….

Hi
Got the same info via another source… is the presence of ‘Silver lady’ in UK becoming a ghost story?

This straight from the source.

The B-25 is still at Tillamook and will be ferried to Aero Trader at Chino within the next 2 weeks for an Annual and some other work. It is expected to be at Aero Trader for 2 months.

Here are a few vintage shots of Silver Lady back in 1994 when she appeared at the Breckenridge (Texas) airshow.

Great news indeed – anyone know where it’s to be based?

Website for Dunsfold wings and wheels shows it as scheduled to be on static there on 26/8 whilst Plane Talk forum mentions its to be in the flying display at the Little Gransden event also on the 26th!

The prospect of this B-25 coming to the UK was mentioned previously in the following thread and I raised some questions in post 4 of that thread, but it looks like some confirmation is now coming through:

last i heard, grumpy was at north weald still sitting in a hangar. its been over 3 years since it was sold, and easily 2 1/2 since it flew. i beleive FHC / Vulcan warbirds had sought another example. who knows? nice to see a b25 in those colours.
