B747-200 PH-BUK finds home… Aviodrome!

The title says it all. KLM has sold B747-200 PH-BUK for 1 euro to the Aviodrome aviation museum. Read so on the forums of the Aviodrome. The plane will be disasembled and shipped/driven to Lelystad late June.

It has at least twice the amount of alcohol an English beer has! 😀

No. Corsair and JAL also had some. In addition, JAL also has/had 741SUDs.

Ah. I thought that there might be some unique significance to PH-BUK. Just curious.

why should it be significant?

well, there are a few reasons why it is important. Firstly it is one of the most recognisable of passenger planes around. Secondly the 747 was, and still is, the flagship of KLM for many many years. Thirdly, it is one of only a handfull 747-200SUDs.

And most likely it would have been high on cycles making a sale to another airline not that lucrative anyway… 😉 Another reason, the other 747s have been sold/returned to lessor already!

If Le Bourget and Sinsheim can have a 747, so can the Aviodrome! And the Aviodrome’s 747 has a larger upper deck! Aviodrome rules! mwuhahahaaa 😀

it is still quite expensive when you bare in mind that taking the plane to lelystad is going to inflate the bill with another 300,000 euros or so. Still, all things considered that is a large house for a halfdecent price!

The plane will be used for displays obviously but will probably also be used as a small congress center.
