Ironically, my hometown airport ONT has been used as MIA in the movie Catch Me If You Can. It’s also been used as LAX in series like LAX and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Lot’s of commercials, as well.

This may be a silly question but is this the same 747 you can sometime see in the background of Top Gear while Jeremy or the Hamster are test driving their wheeled rockets?

The Dunsfold 747 is used in movies isn’t it? I assume its for some space-age or super high tech film.

Possibly even the new bond film?

I said it first!!!! 😀

It’s a movie prop and they are presumably doing what’s known in the business as a ‘night shoot’ ?

So they want to blow up MIA? Why else build a replica? 😉

Could be nice to see I suppose.

There’s a lot of nighttime activity going on down there with it. Flood lights all over the place and plenty of vehicles running around.

Those ex AAE 74’s are good for something after all.

Strange looking 747

Why is this 747 fitted with B-52 type engine pods and what are the pods on the outer engine pylons? Could they be Air-to-Air Refuelling units, or am I barking up the wrong tree? 😀

There was a thing in the news about it the other day (24 hours news, so not a major story). It was interviewing Richard Branson who was saying that BA didn’t want the contract for the new Casino Royal and he went on to say times are changing etc and Virgins superior service is more suited to Bond’s style.
