B747 at Duxford

Just seen the 747 display at Duxford… all i can say is WOW!

I have never seen anything that big display so low (but at a sensible height you didn’t worry).

Worth having a look if you were not sure about coming to Duxford or not this weekend.

Awwwwhhhh…
They would have thought they would have used the outrageous multi coloured 747 they’ve got……..

Is this a scheduled flight making a small detour on it’s way into LHR………???

I remember back int he 80’s at one of the North Weald shows, a Northwest 747 did a similar series of flyby’s…….

I was at a Warbird airshow in Canada back in the 1970’s and there was a brief pause whilst a scheduled Air Canada DC-9 got under way. And did the Warbirds continue? No – the DC-9 came back and did a spirited low pass for the show. God alone knows what the passengers thought!

What’s all that stuff hanging out of the bottom of it???? Are you sure the driver didn’t mistake Duxford for Stansted. Could you see all the punters strapped in during the display or were they shouting help from the windows?

I was actually let out of Somerset for a couple of days this week, so I happened to be at Duxford today:), all I can say is I certainly wasn’t expecting that! Never realised the 747 could be so agile, is this standard flying procedure for SA airlines?! If so I know where i’m off on hols next year……….. 😎

Seeing all trouble that Duxford has had over the past few weeks having a 747 doing a display at what I have been told was at one stage 200 ft, I think is a little bit dumb and inviting trouble.

😀 😀 😀

I’m sure we will all get to read about it and no I’ve never met her, but I’ve also never read her writings.

If you ever have 10 minutes to spare, read something else.

Was hoping to be there today but work indicated otherwise, although I was wondering if a certain Ms Greer was at home and what she would have to say on the matter – not that I would listen anyway!

It kept within the display lines better than some of the fighters based at DX……..suprisingly tight turning circle. Very impressive.

Thanks for letting us know what time it was Ashley. The roll rate was not bad at all, it stayed well way from Duxford village and the airfield east to west.

Droptank just worked out where you work!

Not quite big enough to block out the Amercian air raid shelter but close.

So what’s the rate of roll like on the 747, is it a full aerobatic display or just a flat display, can it stay within the airfield or does it display in the neighbouring counties as well? 😀 :p

I bet it looks spectacular, must be a bit like an eclipse and I’m sure from certain angles blocks out that awful concrete blister hanger. I’ll await the show reports on Sunday night.

Must say i watched the 747 from work and that was very impressive, its first pass was a curved approach across the airfield
it looked massive, and the way it was displayed will have the crowds over the weekend speechless.
