Hey all,
On Thursday the 4th of January i went upto Manchester, well specifically Stockport till Sunday evening. My choice of travel this time was British Airways, having previously travelled to Stockport with National Express, Virgin Trains, bmi and British Airways, i found BA was the best company ive been with.
I arrived at Gatwick at about 10am into the train station thats under the South Terminal after a long painful 1 hour 45mins on a train from Guildford which insisted on stopping everywhere in between 😡 :p But i arrived at LGW with plenty of time to spare for BA2906 at 12:55
after a little wait and a McDonalds, i found the British Airways monorail to the North Terminal, which took 2 minutes but has a nice view over the airport. Seeing as i checked in the night before, didnt have to worry with check-in and walked on through to Security, to be greeted by some woman that sounded liek a repeating record ”Good morning Sir/Madam, do you have any liquids or gels with you and are you carrying and gases or Aerosols on you?”
I then got stick from the guy who checked my passport for wearing a Liverpool shirt 😡 so i asked him who he supported and he said Brighton & Hove Albion so i laughed at him and walked off. After being frisked by them people with metal detectors i went through to find a place to sit down until my 12:55 flight.
I found a place near enough above Harrods in the North Terminal and attempted to take photos with my phone while i passed the time. So excuse the quality of these 2 and only shots i managed to get 😮 Seeing the Oasis Air Hong Kong livery in the flesh is nice aswell :p

Anyway, time passed and was time to go to the gate, which was 55A. 12:15, the time for boarding rolled on by, as did 13:00 and 13:30 😡 the delay was due to a very late incoming plane from Zurich. I just thought whatever and please just get me to Manchester.
Eventually, G-GFFE pulled up on stand and we boarded. The plane was very clean and smart, although looking a bit worn. While waiting for pushback, the Oasis 744 taxied past as did a Titan 757. Taxiing to Runway 26L i learnt that we’d be flying at 23,000ft and although clear skies across much of the country, the approach to MAN would be very bumpy.
Took off just after 2pm, climbed very quick, still amazed at the power of those B735’s. Soon, lunch, if you could call it that was served. It was what looked like Rabbit droppings and seeds and a carton of Orange Juice which was smaller than my iPod. 🙁
I knew we were arriving Manchester when i saw thick clouds and the plane went all over the place. I was a rather nervous passenger for that landing and the Purser on board who was very assuring told me everything was gunna be fine altho being bumpy, everything was gunna be great. I think there are still finger nail imprints in seat 15A on G-GFFE if anyones on it any time soon :p.
After a very very side to side aapproach, we had a smooth landing at Manchester on Runway 24R. We were due to land at 13:55 and eventually landed at 15:02 due to the late running of the flight from ZRH.
We taxied very quickly past a new c/s Helvetic F100, in the flesh, looks great and taxied past the usual regional BD stuff, BA stuff and Luxair to gate 141.
Overall for this flight id give British Airways a well earned8/10. Considering the food which looked like rabbit droppings or to you health freaks, more commonly known as meusli, and the delay and a bumpy aproach, the airline was more than helpful in providing information for the delay and why and all that.
I’ll do the return leg – BA2911 lateron.
Thanks for reading 😀

Excellent report Ben. I agree with you about the BA 735s & the BA food offering – both are not that nice at all.:o. Oh and there’s nothing wrong with being a Brighton & Hove Albion fan – let’s face it, they got to the same stage of the cup as Liverpool did :D:D:D (ha ha from an Arsenal fan)
LOL you complete sod! You were lucky, and you know it. 😡 Thanks for the remarks btw

Great report, I especially liked the bit about the argument of football teams ( everyone know Newcastle United are the best  :p ) And Meusli is very nice actually. Glad you had a good flight. And the shots are good too. I like the one with the Oasis Hong Kong/BA the most.
