Hi all,
Just been looking at the seat maps of several airlines on Seatguru.com, and I happen to notice that on some of BA’s 747-400s the World Traveler Plus cabin is located before the Club World cabin…
Why is this, and is it me or does anyone else find this a tad strange…?

There was a time when BA used to place economy seating up there, when the 747-400s were new.
I flew from AKL-MEL-SIN-LHR in the hump back in 1992, when BA still flew to New Zealand.
The irony is, that very same aircraft is probably still creaking its way through the skies in BA colours now, long past its scrap-by date.

as an economy type traveller
i really enjoyed the economy seating behind first class in the bubble on the LHR VA 747-400
with only 36 seats it was so peaceful

Having been on a number of BA 747-400s, I can’t say I’ve ever noticed.

I remember raised eyebrows when this config was introduced. One of my neighbours who is a CSD for BA tells me that it causes no problems or negative comment.

The alternative would be to have Club just behind first, with seats spilling over the bulkhead (and upper deck stairs) into the main cabin (because there’s not enough space between First and the bulkhead to accommodate all of Club class).
So, instead, the Club seats start aft of the bulkhead so they aren’t split up over two cabin sections. This makes it more efficient for cabin crew to cater for Club and it also means economy plus travellers aren’t going through business class during embark/disembarkation.
