BA 757 problem

BA’s G-CPEN this afternoon at Heathrow with a fuel leak – nothing all that major but right in front of BA’s terminal 1 waiting area is probably not the most customer-reassuring place for a load of emergency services activity. The BA staff did not seem too happy to have it photographed and asked me to leave their waiting area. Can’t really blame them though – I was waiting for a BD flight.

Sorry about the low quality photo, it was shot through glass and I’d only had the camera a few minutes.

At least it’s not like a delayed DC-3 flight my dad took when he was 17.

The technical delay was solved by a man in a flat cap and overalls cycling out to the runway with his toolbag and giving a troublesome engine a good thump with a large shifting spanner !

Ah those were the days !

Actually… it may be contested that that edrenolin rush could be beaten by other activities…

That, strangely enough, may not occur to ‘non-planey’ people EGNM. Love the shot… Like Preston I love a bit of action. (nothing else meant by that whatsoever!) You cant beat the endrenolin (however its spelt!) rush of shooting down the taxiway in speeding, flashing fire engine to deal with an aircraft emergency! Ofcourse, as long as nobody gets hurt!

A BMI A320 had to have a tyre/wheel change in full view of the business lounge just prior to me boarding it a couple of years ago.

It made a few of the passengers a little twitchy for some reason, mainly I suspect because of the tannoy announcement informing us of a delay to the flight owing to a “maintenance issue”
