Because AA operate from T3 :). They aren’t the only airline to operate widebodies from T3, the BA 767, and the bmi A330’s also go from T3.

Not often but it does happen from time to time. They put a B777 on that evening because one of the previous B737 Gatwick shuttles had been cancelled.

BTW that pic was taken in the morning, the B777 didn’t park on that stand when it arrived. It looks like a B767 tail, also that is the stand the BA 76 normally goes from in the morning.

So to answer the question, no that isn’t a BA 777.

I was told last week when i was at ncl that BA do there best to replace the tech aircraft and still do the flight.

So for example ncl operates routes to LHR AND gatwick and say if a heathrow aircraft went tech they would send up a replacement from heathrow. Not a gatwick base aircraft?

Would they even bother to operate the flight and not just cancel it or delay it whilst work is carried out? Surely, to make it easier, if they were going to send an aircraft up to Newcastle, they would send one from the airport to which the flight was going to.

No point getting a 757 or 767 to operate the flight instead when British Airways doesn’t have any of these two aircraft based at Gatwick.

There’s no back-up at Gatwick if one of the 737s goes tech – so they often use a T7 as a replacement, or combine 2 flights into 1 on the T7

The tail shape would suggest it probably is. The 777 has quite a narrow looking tail for an aircraft of that size which this tail apears to be. Couldn’t be 100% certain though.

I’d say it was, especially looking at the size of the tail.

Hard to tell mate it could be the daily MAN-JFK service with the 767. unless they put a 777 on the run?
