Does anyone here believe BA will get AVOD?
I have heard the 767s are being refitted with PTVS, will they have AVOD or the current 18 channel Omnia?

Yeah, the AVOD-ready one is Rockwell Collins. It is on nearly all the planes except, I think, some of the earlier 777s.

WHy do you reckon there will be no First on the new 767 longhaul versions Oneleft?

BA’s longhaul 767’s are about start their cabin refits. This will result in the same seats and IFE as the 747’s and 777’s.
PTV’s will be included with the current ‘Highlife’ branded 18 channel system which replaced the ‘Omnia’ brand last Autumn.
There are two systems in use at the moment, Rockwell Collins or GEMIS depending on the particular aircraft, and I believe one is AVOD able, but not the other. Eventually AVOD should be introduced, but of course ‘eventually’ is a long time at BA!
I think it is unlikely that all 4 cabins will be fitted to the 767’s, more likely to have just 3 (CW, WTP and WT).
It is also possible (but not confirmed) that as the A321’s arrive from October onwards the shorthaul 767’s will transfer to longhaul. This fits with the shorthaul policy of smaller aircraft/higher frequency.
1L.

JFK is now only served by 1 767 from MAN, G-BNWH once a day.
The only other times there were 767s in there were way back at the start of 2002 when there was a once time daily service from LGW, but that stopped very soon after 9/11.
Now JFK just gets 1 of our 777s, and 6 of our 744s 🙂

JAL has AVOD, too.

Since UA and BA use the same terminal, I always get a good look at what BA has to offer at JFK. I sometimes see 2-3 BA 767’s on the ground there at any given time. All they all MAN bound?

AVOD stands for Audio-Video-on-Demand. It is where you can play, stop, rewind, pause etc. Virgin currently have it on a 1/3 of their planes and Emrates have it on their a345s. The current BA system is AVOD ready, they just need to make the upgrades to it.
Shame the poor sods on those 767s wont get PTVs, on all BA flights except those couple & the MAN-JFK ones you get PTVs. Never mind, they will have to fly CW instead!

As far as I am aware the 767s are not being retroiftted with PTVs, purely 2 or 3 old short haul configured 767s are being given a First and a Club world cabin and being used on long haul routes.
The poor sods in the back of 767s for 12 hours to Bogota for example have still got to suffer.
As for AVOD I assume that is an in flight entertainment system, but as I have never flown long haul I can’t really commment on the different types available

interesting.
Perhaps MarkL can answer. He’s the BA expert here.
