AVOD inflight entertainment comes to BA in June.
The first aircraft to be fitted, a 767, comes into service 11th June ’06, with all the 767s fitted by August ’06. The first 747 with it will be in service July ’06, and the rest of the longhaul fleet will be fitted during ’06 and the first half of ’07.
The Rockwell Collins system has 50 movie channels, TV channels, Audio channels, 20 games, kids channel and moving map, accessed through a touch screen menu.

My last flight in a long haul club cabin was in the mid 90’s and short haul several times over the last few years. Surely (beds and IFE aside) there should be no difference in service standards between club cabins?

And you last flew Upper Class when?
More recently than you’ve flown BA ‘J’ I suspect. And I have been asking haven’t I?
For those of you who don’t know. Wys and I are great mates, and he knows what a fan of Virgin I am. Please don’t think we are being serious. Well not TOO serious!

Remember that we are comparing Upper Class with club…the gap is huge.
And you last flew Club World when?

Yes, they’ll be most useful come July/August when we come across the now traditional BA summer strike meltdown!
thats a bit below the belt.

Well then on that basis alone Virgin has been ahead for years. A flat bed has been the standard Virgin Upper Class cabin for a few years now. It is so popular that last year Virgin started making large amounts of money selling their own design to other carriers too.
Then I guess its BA’s frequencies and flexi tickets that cut the cheese 🙂

……….
BA Club world: whilst they do not have the limo driver they do have un-paralleled flexi-tickets!!
and Massages aren’t everything!!
It was my understanding that they do have a “limo” now.

Regarding BA’s New Club World Seat
I understand the seat will essentially be based on skeleton of the EOS seat which is built by BE Aerospace. BA are anxious to address the various issues with their current design and the fact that the VS seat is outperforming them so they are going for what is essentially an off-the-shelf design which will be cosmetically altered.
Look out for BA’s PR machine spinning in to action to differentiate their ‘new’ seat from the EOS design!

How do you catch up when you’re already ahead? Remember that we are comparing Upper Class with club…the gap is huge.
Show me a flat bed in a standard VS upper class cabin and then you’re ahead. :p

Ah yes. Virgin Atlantic, always pioneering. Just don’t mention flat beds or self service check-in!

Brilliant that stupid 12 channels at the moment is rubbish and so are the radio programmes!

Oooh wonder whether my 747 in Sept will have AVOD?
Damn and blast, looks like Mark L and myself will just miss out on this!
Realistically guys, with so many aircraft to get through the chances of getting it are quite slim until well into the fitting programme.
