I gotta feel sorry for BA and all the people who arent gunna be with those relatives, girlfriends/boyfriends for Christmas :([/QUOTE]

The general public and BA staff – yes I feel sorry for them, having been caught up in the August chaos I feel for them.

BA – No sympathy for them at all, they have put their eggs in the Heathrow basket

Any ideas which airports in the UK have been visted by a BA long haul aircraft in the last 2 days?

1 B772 did LGW-GLA last night, there were 2 B772s used on LGW-EDI, one evening flight and another one later on, infact the later one might even have been the nightstopper. Not if there are any more planned to be used today?

I can’t see many unusuals for today except for a 744 operating the 903U FRA-LHR this afternoon.

Yer. I heard on BBC that BA were using 747s on flights to Frankfurt and Geneva as well :).

This is where fleet reserves come into their own.

If I were BA I’d be pretty p!ssed-off at the media doing another β€˜look at BA – aren’t they rubbish!’ story.

Well…. Despite my poor attempt (by sarcasm) at making a point in post #15, I wonder if “the media” may be capitalising on the fact that the airline claiming to be ‘British’ Airways has shut down it’s domestic (British) network, thanks to some typically British weather, whilst (being seen) to maintain it’s international network, in the same week it has e-mailed it’s customers to confirm the sale of it’s regional network to Flybe.

Oh, accuse me of having a chip on my shoulder if you will, but if the so called national airline wants to serve the people of ‘Britain’ then perhaps it doesn’t want to put all of it’s eggs into one (LHR) basket…;)

I’ve got two BA flights on Sunday MAN-LHR and LHR-BRU. I have no idea whether or not those flights I’m booked on will operate.

Contingency plans include trying to switch to a direct MAN-BRU or doing MAN-AMS and going to Antwerp on the train and then Brugge on the train.

I ws looking forward to my first ride in a 757 πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

In an attempt to clear some of the backlog presumably BA are putting a B772 on one of the LGW-EDI flights this evening. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happening again to MAN/EDI/GLA over the next few days.

I’ve just checked yesterday’s flight information to see how the KLM flights are affected. I’m really concerned that I’ll be affected on Sunday night, when I fly into Heathrow. The fog is not due to clear until Monday.

Yesterday’s KLM 1033 from Amsterdam was 2 hours and 20 minutes late. Let’s just hope everything runs smoothly on Sunday! πŸ™

I’m sure there are many people on these forums that are going to be affected by these delays and cancellations.
I myself are flying LBA-ABZ on sunday, However as this aircraft originates in Exeter (which has been badly hit by Fog) has cancelled the flight on both Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Today it operated with an hours delay.

A Heathrow spokesman said Lufthansa and Alitalia were among the other airlines affected.

Barely a mention of it in a huge article on BA – like others have said I think there is some unfair light cast on BA.

Alas for BA they are worst affected being the No.1 carrier at LHR.

Now if they were still flying the REGIONS  maybe they wouldn’t have as much disruption than they do now by putting all eggs in the LHR basket.

(OK I’m winding you up!!)

BA will always concentrate on long haul in adverse weather at LHR, or where ATC places restrictions on movements for whatever reason, to the expense of domestic short haul especially.

Not so bad (relatively!) for the likes of MAN, EDI or GLA where there are alternatives.

For my area, ABZ is much more adversely affected given its location. It’s a LOOOOOONG to come by train/road, & air travel is most popular for the business passenger especially. It’s made all the worse by it being the busiest time of year up here plus business is booming anyway, if you look at the increases in pax at ABZ.

Just watched the BBC and ITV news and BA was the only airline mentioned during coverage of this crisis by either broadcaster.

(One passenger being interviewed mentioned that a BMI flight had also been cancelled.)

Surely other international airlines are affected too.

If I were BA I’d be pretty p!ssed-off at the media doing another β€˜look at BA – aren’t they rubbish!’ story.

WA$.

Yeah, totaly unfair media coverage IMO.
The report featured a camera pan down the departure board from one of the Terminals at Heathrow, EVERY flight on that board was cancelled, not just BA’s
