BA Concorde E-mail

I asked why Concorde could’t come to NCL on it’s farewell tour, this is the E-mail I got back.

Dear Mr Scott
Thank you for contacting Mr Eddington regarding Concorde’s retirement. He
has asked
me to reply on his behalf.
We have had to take the prudent business decision to retire Concorde at a
time when we
are having to make tough decisions across the airline. Concorde has served
us very well
and we are extremely proud to have flown this marvellous aircraft for the
last 27 years.
As I am sure you will understand, we have received many similar requests
for visits to
various airports both nationwide and internationally and unfortunately were
unable to
accommodate all of these.
This decision has been made for a combination of both commercial reasons
with
passenger numbers falling steadily against a backdrop of rising maintenance
costs for
the aircraft.
As you are aware, one of our aircraft is now residing in Manchester, the
other in Filton,
Bristol within England. You will appreciate there is literally not enough
of our aircraft to
be local to all members of the public, and I am sorry you were
disappointed.
Once again, I am sorry for your unhappiness but I would like to thank you
for your
interest in BA and wish you well in your plans for the future.
Yours sincerely
Mandi Jackson

They had 5 air worthy aircraft one would be on the JFK flight so they would have had 4 a/c sitting on the ground doing nothing, why could’nt BA use all of the 4 on the tour??????

££££££s – airlines are businesses, with responsibilities to their shareholders and employees, not charities to benefit reggie spotters.
