BA Contingency Plan: Chartered Aircraft

With the British Airways strike ongoing, I was wondering, what aircraft will they be chartering as part of their plan to fly 50% of their passengers?

I live in Surrey, not far from Heathrow, right below the Middle-East/Asia departure flight-path and while enjoying the sun noticed what seemed to be a Jet2 757-200 fly overhead.

I’d be interested to know if anyone knows what aircraft/airlines will be chartered, and if anyone has any shots that would be awesome!

Jet2 in Heathrow..how odd!!:p

You mean Ryanair or Ryan Air International from the USA? I can’t see BA swallowing its price and accepting Ryanair’s help. It would give Ryanair too much ammunition for a new PR campaign.

Michael O’Leary has been quite hard on the unions, and even supporting BA.

The not the usual MOL rheotoric, he must be still in a good mood after one of his horses won at the Cheltnam festival last week :diablo:

I live in a small village NE of Tonbridge, Kent. As I’m not completely au fait with the Heathrow flight paths, am I likely to see anything unusual outside?

Well I suppose that if we are to believe Unite, there are now (time 1530) 140 BA aircraft parked up at LHR, in addition to the 20 at CWL and 20 at SNN. OF which we know that aren’t 20 aircraft at CWL (only 5 in maintenance & 2 stored) and have seen reports that there are zero in SNN. But the 5 aircraft at EDI have not been mentioned by them!?! Which begs the question of why bother to believe anything that union is putting out?

It was rather gruesome, wasn’t it? I was visiting my daughter just close to Isleworth and they were popping out of the cloud at a few hundred feet.

Definitely a Euroatlantic 757, plus some other schemes that weren’t instantly recogniseable. It’ll be interesting to download the movements later in the week to see exactly how many BA flights were running, as there are two
versions going around at the moment

I went to LHR yesterday and got some photos of the chartered stuff. Unfortunately it was raining most of the time 🙁

Ooops sorry about that! I mean Ryanair! They have indeed as the above poster has stated let BA use Three aircraft for the LGW Shuttle Flights!

When I left work yesterday, I took a quick drive towards T5 to see if I could see any of the chartered aircraft, and the only one I could see was an Astreaus 757 (the one in the ex-Zoom blue colour!).

And today, a passenger I checked in said that she travelled from Rome to Heathrow on BA yesterday and that the aircraft was operated by EuroAtlantic!
