BA discontinuing Manchester to JFK

Has anyone else out there had their flight to JFK from Manchester by BA cancelled because they will no longer fly this route from end of October? It has cost almost £400 more to re-book with AF/Delta and two weeks after cancellation still no refund for original flight. Does anyone know if the monetary difference can be claimed from BA – after trawling through various compensation sites the only one I can findthis on is ‘WHICH’ but the information is not exactly clear and their flight rights explained which has to be accessed through Adobe reader mentioned nothing about this. I am so angry at BA for it’s treatment of Manchester which covers a vast area, why do they expect us to go down to Gatwick or Heathrow, with all the additional time and expense involved, and if passengers have children with them they do not need the extra hassle. Heathrow is in a muddle now – why could they not leave this route with Manchester which was running just fine. Help please!!

Also take a look at going through Dublin it might be cheaper.

Yes indeed, Aer Lingus do some good deals to the states ex DUB.

Would this open the door for long-hauls from other carriers? BMI, Silverjet…

This has been posted at least twice now…hmm.

First time I’ve read about pre-booked flights being cancelled on this route, to be honest…

its a shame B.A. are dropping this service, but according to B.A. its not making money, a sign of the times. They obviously feel the gatwick service replacing it to JFK will be more profitable.
